______________________________________________________________________ I have a Goodman 95GVM furnace. It is has a 2 stage burner and variable speed blower. I was told by someone that I need to use the W2 terminal on the furnace in order for it to work properly. Is this true? I currently do not have a thermostat that has a W2 terminal, and the furnace does work. Will i notice a difference if i do get a thermostat that has a W2 terminal and I connect it? Your furnace can be cofigured to operate with a single stage thermostat. This is the factory setting with other brands. The circuit board will initiate a timer with stage 1 heat. If the heat demand is still present after the predetermined time expires, the board energizes stage 2 heat. Your furnace manual will give a description of the correct dip switch settings. I would still install a 2 stage thermostat, if an extra thermostat wire conductor is available. “Tip of the Day” Remember to remove power first.
